Word Grid Strategies: Score Higher Every Game

Understand the Scoring Curve

| 6 letters | 6 pts | 1.0 pts/letter |
In the current WordGrid dictionary, 5- and 6-letter words have the highest scores. Take clear short words first, then look for legal 5- and 6-letter extensions.
Mode-aware practice
- Timed mode: Make one quick pass for obvious 3- and 4-letter words, then extend the strongest routes.
- Zen mode: Scan one row, column, or corner at a time and trace every likely extension without a clock.
- After either mode: Use the solver to review missed routes, then carry one pattern into the next board.
Word Families
One root word can create several related candidates, but each one still needs a legal adjacent path and a current dictionary entry.
Know Your Vowels
Vowel placement determines what's possible. If you see two vowels adjacent, look for words that use both. If vowels are spread out, focus on consonant clusters around each one independently.
